I/TMSZ’s Michael Zodorozny is a founding member of the synth punk, electro-noise group Crash Course in Science. Using primitive analog drum machines and homemade synthesizers the band created an original, raw sound. The group released the 7” single “Cakes in the Home” in 1979. The darker follow up release, “Signals From Pier Thirteen” was originally released in 1981. The latter contained the underground hits “Cardboard Lamb” and Flying Turns”. The group continues to perform in the US and Europe.
The band has been remixed by Vitalic, David Carretta, Terence Fixmer, Danton Eeprom, Ricardo Villalobos among others. Dark Entries Records has re-released the bands signature 12” “Signals From Pier Thirteen” as well as a twelve-inch single version of “Jump Over Barrels” which contains a remix of the track by Charles Manier. A three LP box set was released on Vinyl On Demand in 2009 which contained the premiere of the album “Near Marineland” which was originally recorded in 1981. The track “Cardboard Lamb” was used in the soundtrack of the film “Interior. Leather Bar” by Travis Matthews and James Franco. The groups upcoming LP will be released in November 2017.
Michael composed soundtracks for the experimental performance art group “Disturbed Form Theater” and collaborated with Gen Ken Montgomery as the band KMZ. Both acts performed regularly at New Yorks Pyramid Club in the 1980’s.
Recently Michael has written lyrics and performed vocals with the Hacker on the track “Tenebra” for his album “Love/Kraft, Pt 2” on the Zone label and with Trevor Jackson and In Flagranti on the tracks “Total Collapse” and “Better This Way” on the Playgroup_Previously-Unreleased series released on Yes Wave Records in 2016. A new Crash Course in Science LP will be released in September 2017.
